Meet The Staff At: 721 Ridge Road's Wellness Center

"I wake up everyday excited to go to work.  It is not a job-- it is my passion."

Melissa has been in the health and wellness field for over 10 years.  She incorporates a wide range of therapeutic techniques into every massage. Melissa's passion for massage was sparked by her studies in Therapeutic Recreation at Utica College of Syracuse University.  After receiving her Bachelor's in Science in 2004 she then went on to  Gaylord Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital located in Wallingford, CT.  There Melissa worked with the Sports Association of Gaylord Hospital and provided programs to promote health and wellness. In 2006 Melissa then attended a 2 year Massage Therapy Program at Monroe Community College earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science.  In 2007 she became a certified Personal Trainer through the Cooper Institute and continues to update her repertoire with certifications like; Upper Body Orthopedics through James Waslowskie,  Myofascial Release through Walt Fritz, and is Hot Stone Massage certified.

Melissa is passionate about educating her clients and empowering them to take control of their own health and well-being.  She has a mindful, nurturing touch and a relaxed, professional presence that allows her to work well with a variety of clients.  Melissa has experience working in multiple settings including a clinical setting where she was a part of the Goshorn Chiropractic and Wellness team for over 5 years.  She also worked in both a day spa where she became trained in body treatments and Midtown Athletic Club where she was able to work with a variety of athletes.

Melissa finds her passion lies when working with clients who are recovering from accidents, injuries, and chronic pain, and is particularly focused on holistic healing that addresses the root causes of the injury or illness.   Melissa believes that clients receive the most effective approach to healing when combining therapies.  Throughout her years of practice  she has found that when patients of chiropractors, acupuncture, and physical therapy utilize massage therapy techniques they will find their healing process increases, enhancing the body to promote an optimal well-being. Melissa is always willing to coordinate with your wellness provider so you can get the most effective treatment plan possible.
